Hello I searching for advices about what I can do on my car to improved the engine power. It´s about 380 000 kms and runs very well but I have it since 2002 and it will be great if I have more power because a friend of mine bought a bmw 135i stock and I want to overtake him. Is the garett gt28rs a/r 60 a good idea on a stock engine? With stock pistons or Will it be dangereous for my engine?

since its a 2002 model, its most like a Trionic 7 car.   These cars have weaker pistons than the earlier t5 cars, however can still me made to make good power on stock internals

the great thing about a turbocharger, is that you do not need to run max boost, all the time, you could put a gr28rs onto the car, and run it at a safe level.

these motors tend to see major reliability issues above 250whp. however that will be more than enough to run with a stock 135i.

Feel free to write to me if you have any more questions,

Hello Mike, Thank you for the reply. I believe the car is a NG900, He just owned it since 2002. So it is a T5 car.

hi dropzone gt28rs will be fine on stock engine . engine has been proven unmodified to 500 bhp , the rs is rated to 350whp , but you will need uprated injectors ,i would recommend siemens deka,s 650cc ,additionally you will need 255 lph walbro fuel pump and a 3" turbo downpipe to run this and a suitable tune either from a member that does t5 tuning or one of the pro tuners ie brew city, jzw or nordic

Well, first of all the car has run many miles and if you want to go as high as these posts above suggest then youll need to service the engine.
Rip it apart and change bearings, transmission and service the head. A new oilpump is a good choice aswell.

While youre doing this you should machine the head of the pistons down 1.1mm to make way for the t7 headgasket. With new rings on top of all this other work your engine will be "bulletproof". Engines like this has been pushed above 600hp 700nm without failure.

However, I would go straight for a gtbb30 if I where you. In my opinion they give more and cost as much as a gtbb28. And as said above, power is controlled by the ECU so a bigger turbo only means you have more power later on if youd want. The exeption here though is: bigger turbo = slower spool.

I only talked about the engine here. There is more to look after when chasing power on old cars. Clutch, gearbox, suspension, chassie and brakes to name a few.

depends what you want to do really if i was  doing block work would drop a b234r with new pistons and rings  , but i,d keep the original head for simplicity of trionic 5
